Metro Aviation delivers ec145e to university of utah
September 11, 2018
Metro Aviation recently delivered the first EC145e from one of its largest commercial helicopter orders to the University of Utah Health AirMed program.
Metro’s completion center, located in Shreveport, Louisiana, outfitted the lightweight helicopter with mission-specific gear tailored to hot environments, high altitude conditions and avalanche rescues. Additionally, the aircraft features standard air ambulance equipment, which AirMed plans to utilize for mechanical circulatory support and bariatric support.
“We’re excited about the increased capabilities of this aircraft. It will be stationed at our Park City base, so having the increased lift is what we’re most excited about,” said AirMed program manager Frankie Toon. “This aircraft will also give us over-water capabilities, which increases our straight-line distance.”
The new aircraft replaces a Bell 407 helicopter and joins AirMed’s fleet of two PC-12’s, three BH 407’s and an IFR-equipped EC145. The aircraft will be on display during the Air Medical Transport Conference in Phoenix on the Metro Aviation Booth, #729.
